On 19 August, 2022, a citizen of Islamic Republic of Iran H.Z., bypassing the “Meghri” checkpoint across the state border of RA, on the territory controlled by the border guard troops of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Armenia, overcoming the engineering and technical barriers, without established documents and proper permission, tried to illegally cross the RA state border of RA and enter the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran from the side of the Republic of Armenia. As a result of urgent measures taken by officers of the Border Guard Department of FSB RF in RA, H.Z. was immediately seized and, in the prescribed manner, handed over to the RA National Security Bodies.

Public criminal prosecution was initiated against H.Z. in the Investigation Department of the RA NSS on the grounds of Article 44-469, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code, arrest was chosen as a measure of restraint against him.

Note: The suspect or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent as long as his/her guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA - by the court decision entered into legal force.
