The National Security Service of RA, within the framework of consistent work in the direction of combating corruption, actively cooperating with the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of RA, detected another case of demanding a bribe and receiving it through an intermediary by an official.

In particular, as a result of various and tactically combined large-scale operative-search complex measures taken by the Department of Economic Security and Countering Corruption of the RA National Security Service, it was established that Major of Justice A.G. - holding the position of assistant responsible officer on duty of the duty group of the Vanadzor Penitentiary Institution of the Penitentiary Service of the RA MoJ, being an official in the state body - the “Vanadzor” penitentiary institution of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of RA, constantly performing functions of a representative of the authorities, using his official position, in order to organize the process of parole of the convict of the same penitentiary institution T .E., demanded from the latter as a bribe an especially large amount of 20,000 USD, equivalent to 9,500,000 (nine million five hundred thousand) AMD, of which 10,000 USD on 21 April, 2022, under the operative control of the employees of the RA NSS was transferred to A.R. -the person indicated by A.G., immediately after which the latter and A.G. were brought in to the RA NSS. In the course of the operative-search activity “Imitation of receiving a bribe and giving a bribe”, the amount of 10,000 USD that was the subject of the bribe and was subjected to special chemical treatment was discovered and seized at A.R.

In connection with the incident, the materials prepared in the RA NSS were submitted to the RA Anti-corruption Committee where a criminal case was initiated under the relevant articles of the RA Criminal Code, within the framework of which A.G. and A.R. were detained.

Note: The suspect or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent as long as his guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA - by the court decision entered into legal force.
