As a result of operative-search activities carried out by the employees of the Department of the Economic Security and Countering Corruption of the RA National Security Service, it was established that the citizen of the Republic of France, for the purpose of selling in the RA, illegally acquired a narcotic drug of the “cocaine” type in especially large quantities weighing about 221,08 grams, which, keeping it in disguise, on 3 September, 2021 smuggled across the state border of the Republic of Armenia by flight Nice-Paris-Yerevan.

As a result of operative-search measures taken during the customs control at the international airport “Zvartnots”, the mentioned narcotic drug in especially large quantities, illegally stored for the purpose of sale, was found and seized from him.

Within the framework of the criminal case initiated on this fact in the Investigation Department of the RA NSS, based on the direct suspicion of committing a crime, the mentioned person was detained, and later arrest was applied against him as a measure of restraint.

The necessary procedural actions are being taken in the direction of detecting all the circumstances of the case, as well as establishing the full circle of those involved in the scheme for illegal drug smuggling into the territory of the RA.

Note: The suspect or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent as long as his guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA - by the court decision entered into legal force.
