Another apparent case of receiving bribe has been detected
The National Security Service of RA, being faithful to the principle of eliminating various manifestations of corruption, within the functions – vested upon it by the law − in the fight against corruption, as a result of undertaken operational and search measures and investigative activities, detected another apparent case of receiving a bribe by the employees of one of the cemeteries of the "Special Service for Population" community NPO in Yerevan.
According to the obtained facts, the head of the one of the cemeteries of the "Special Service for Population" community NPO in Yerevan and the controller of the same cemetery, being officials in the organization of the local self-government body with organizational and managerial powers, acting with prior consent, demanded a large bribe of 1,500 USD, equivalent to 719, 280 AMD from the latter for providing the burial ground preferred by the citizen.
On 29 April 2020, immediately after receiving the $ 1,500 bribe, the above-mentioned controller of the cemetery was detained by the RA NSS officers, during the personal search the subject of the bribe was found and confiscated, and the latter confessed to the crime.
According to the relevant articles of the RA Criminal Code, the officials who received bribe in the criminal case initiated in the RA NSS Investigation Department in connection with the crime, were arrested.
The preliminary investigation is underway, and appropriate measures are being taken to identify and prosecute other possible criminal episodes of bribery, to detect other people involved in the corruption chain.
Note: The suspect or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent as long as his/her guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA - by the court decision entered into legal force.
