Case of Drug Smuggling in Especially Large Amount by Transnational Criminal Group Detected
The officers of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, as a result of operational and search measures activities undertaken within the framework of the implementation of its functions to fight drugs smuggling detected case of drug smuggling in especially large amount.
According to the obtained preliminary data a 23-years-old woman, who is dual citizen of IRI and RA, hiding 8 cotton wet fabrics /like a gauze/ in the hank of embroidered lace which soaked in especially large amount about 900gr. <> type of drug and tried to send it to Australia via postal item, where the receiver would remove the drug by scraping from the dried fabrics. Realizing the operational data about smuggling the officers of the NSS detected hidden drug in the postal item.
As a result of conducted search within the framework of the criminal case in the apartment of the citizen detected a curtain about 25kg. weight, the linen lining which completely soaked in opium raw material. Besides, the above mentioned fabric additionally was worked up with coffee solution, in order to excepting the detection of the drug. The mentioned batch of drug was supposed to be sent to Australia via postal item.
As a result of search in the apartment also detected greenish mass similar to marijuana.
In the Investigation Department of the NSS of RA, a criminal case has been initiated on the fact of the apparent crime, according to corresponding articles of the Criminal Code of RA. The person has been detained.
Operational and search and investigation urgent measures are being taken to detect other members of transnational criminal group with Special Services of the Partner Counties.
Note: The suspect or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent as long as his guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA-by the court decision entered into legal force.
