On the basis of factual data obtained as a result of extensive longtime operational and search measures and investigative activities within the criminal proceedings initiated still on 2 February  2019, in the Investigation Department of the National Security Service of Republic of Armenia, on 22 August 2019, searches were conducted in the houses and mansions of the former Head of the RA State Revenue Committee, former RA Minister of Finance Gagik Khachatryan and several individuals associated with him.

On the same day, following the completion of the search, Gagik Khachatryan and Karen Khachatryan (former RA SRC high-ranking official) on suspicion of having committed crimes under Article 308, 2^nd part, and Article 179, 3^rd part, 1^st clause, of the RA Criminal Code (abuse of official authority coupled with grave consequences and squandering of property in particularly large amount) were taken to the RA NSS Investigation Department and detained.

The preliminary investigation ongoing.  

Note: The suspect or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent as long as his guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA - by the court decision entered into legal force.
