Officers of RA NSS Detained an Official of RA Cassation Court
The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, as a result of large-scale operative and search measures undertaken within the framework of the implementation of its functions aimed at the fight against corruption, has detected and prevented an apparent corruption case related to an official of the court system of RA.
According to the obtained preliminary data, a chairman of an NGO, former advocate who provided legal services in order to ensure adoption of a favorable judicial act on a civil case for the benefit of a RA citizen, gave money as a bribe to an official of the Cassation Court of RA. The sum was handed over under the operational control of the officers of the NSS; immediately after that the abovementioned persons were caught and brought in. The bribe money was detected.
In the Investigation Department of the NSS of RA a criminal case has been initiated on the fact of the apparent crime, according to the corresponding articles of the Criminal Code of RA; 2 persons have been detained.
The appropriate measures are being taken to detect other possible corruption cases involving the abovementioned persons.
Note: The suspect or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent as long as his guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA-by the court decision entered into legal force.
