Case of Apparent Abuse of Authority and Official Fraud Was Detected

The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, within the implementation of its functions to counteract corruption crimes, detected a case of apparent abuse of authority and commitment of official fraud.
According to preliminary data, obtained as a result of operative-search measures undertaken by the officers of the NSS, Syunik marz governor of 2016 got informed that the individuals, in tensions with him, obtained a plot of land to build a hotel complex. In order to artificially hamper the aforementioned entrepreneurial activities, and to prevent the investment plans, he ordered the officials of the local self-government bodies to sell, to his mentioned person, the area, neighboring with the mentioned plot of land and providing an entrance to it. The competent persons, constituting false documents for alienating the land by auction, organized its sale, as a result of which the owner of the constructing territory in fact was deprived of the possibility to manage and use the plot of land.
A criminal case on the apparent crime has been instituted in the Investigation Department of the NSS of RA under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of RA.
The preliminary investigation goes on.

Note: A person suspected in or charged with a criminal offense shall be presumed innocent unless proved guilty in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of RA and unless the verdict comes into legal force.
