As a result of measures taken by the respective units of the National Security Service of RA data was received indicating the judge requested particularly large amount of bribe to take some actions, within the scope of his powers, in favor of a person.
As a result of operative-search measures, under the control of the officers of the National Security Service of RA , the amount of bribe was handed over to the judge through his accomplice, the lawyer, and immediately after that the received money was found and taken from him.
The Investigation Department of the National Security Service of Republic of Armenia, with respect to the cases of receiving particularly large amount of bribe by a judge, of assisting in receiving and giving a bribe of particularly large amount, has initiated a criminal case by features of the 4th clause of 2nd and 3rd parts of Article 311, 4th clause of 2nd and 3rd parts of Article 38-311and 3rd clause of 1st part of Article 312 of the Criminal Code of RA. For the preliminary investigation the criminal case was forwarded to the RA Special Investigation Service.
In the manner prescribed by Article 51 of the RA Constitutional Law “Judicial Code of RA”, the judge who was detained immediately after the crime was taken into custody, which was informed to the Head of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia.

Note. A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent unless his/her guilt is not proved by court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
